Proletaroid Spectacle EP:
The impetus for the creation of the Proletaroid Spectacle EP by Jolly lies in his exploration of the text "Die Gesten der Versammlung" (2018) by an artist and theorist Pascale Schreibmüller. In this concept, the meaning of assembly and alliance is explored. The assembly becomes a gesture of identity and the "we" becomes self-determination and self-dramatization. Thus, the performativity of the group (the assembly) creates a narrative.
All artists on this EP performatively become a conglomerate of cultural producers, who present their interpretation of Jolly's tracks. Their remixes, hence, become a part of musical genealogy, which have been codified by their specific resources and technologies. Their artistic continuation of (sub-)cultural knowledge and aesthetic processing of the material thus becomes a historical gesture, the narrative. This gesture and the resulted sonic artifact can be seen as a collectively created habitus of contemporary electronic music culture, digital industrialization and artistic expressions.

Jolly‘s roots lie within a political electronic music scene that developed in Zürich, Switzerland over the past years. As a founder and prolific part of the Kashev Tapes collective, which emerged within the autonomous leftist scene, he’s been producing, playing, curating and organizing events and projects over the past 10 years. His various engagements and political interests interconnect with his profound production style and vivid sound design.
